Industry Expertise

Kevin Hamilton, trained in the field of mechanical engineering, applies this analytic and process foundation to solving complex business problems for hospitals and other health care providers. His background is diverse and involves many aspects of the health care industry including operational, strategic, and regulatory and compliance consulting.

Mr. Hamilton has advised clients ranging in size from small rural hospitals to large health systems, with projects that have included distressed hospital turnarounds, clinical transformation, and strategic and operational refinement for high-performing clients.

Representative Experience

  • Director for net revenue enhancement initiatives at a financially distressed hospital system in Northern California. Initiatives included a rapid rebuild of the Charge Description Master, multi-department charge capture work, comprehensive strategic pricing, and renegotiation of the majority of the large managed-care contracts.
  • Project director for an engagement at a county hospital on the central coast of California. Specific initiatives undertaken by the project team included avoidable write-off reduction, accounts receivable reduction, cash acceleration, and outsourced vendor management.
  • Project director for an end-to-end revenue cycle assessment for a hospital in Beirut, Lebanon. Project responsibilities included interviewing client personnel, directing the data analysis being provided by stateside resources, and interacting with client executives to understand the unique needs of the hospital.  Operational deficiencies were identified, and specific recommendations were formulated to address identified issues.
  • Assisted a large teaching hospital, urban trauma center, and specialty cancer research hospital in the transition of their pharmacy system from a legacy system to a cutting-edge software solution.  Through interviewing, determined the process implications to the clinical personnel. Additionally, analyzed the financial implications from the transition using extensive revenue modeling.
  • Performed a comprehensive nurse-staffing project that successfully bridged the gap between the needs of the staffing director and the costs associated with maintaining staff. The study included benchmarking against best practice data.
