Jim Heenan has had a 35-year career in financial and strategic management with various companies in the health care, long-term care, insurance, consumer products, and consulting industries. He has hands-on experience as an employee, principal, and consultant in a myriad of business development situations.
In 1998, Mr. Heenan joined Homestead Health Services, Inc., as chief financial officer. The company owned and operated assisted-living facilities (ALFs) in Central Florida. The company also managed ALFs and completed a number of financial turnarounds of troubled facilities. At its peak, Homestead owned and/or managed nine properties. Mr. Heenan and his partner initiated a strategic shift and established Quality of Life Holdings, Inc., to develop its Medicare Certified Home Health Care business to provide health care services for elderly and disabled homebound persons. Prior to its sale in 2007, the company owned and operated three agencies.
In 2000 Mr. Heenan was asked to serve on the Board of Directors of Atlantic Community Care, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation as part of a turnaround team. The company operated an unprofitable ALF and had a second ALF under construction. The first property was profitably stabilized. Construction was completed on the second, and both properties were then sold.
Previously, Mr. Heenan formed Quantum Capital International, Inc. The company negotiated capital funding commitments and strategic business alliances, completed corporate financial restructurings and identified financing alternatives for client companies. During this time with Quantum Capital, he was engaged to shepherd Just Like Home, Inc (an AFL developer and operator) through an initial public stock offering.
Mr. Heenan’s corporate management experience includes serving as vice president of Finance for Allied International Holdings, Inc., a holding company in the property and casualty insurance industry with subsidiaries that included a property and casualty insurance carrier (T.H.E. Insurance Company) and managing general agency (Allied Specialty Insurance, Inc.). He also served as corporate controller for Wilton Enterprises, Inc., a $50-million publicly traded consumer products company.
